Until a more detailed guide will be available you can refer to the:

After that you can press the "BACKUP FW" button to make a recommended backup copy of the SPI flash with your original Key.
From this moment on, the software will take care to Unlock and Lock the SPI automatically.

Addendum 1:

The “MTX FREEDOM MANAGER” Software
Quick instructions

Lock/Unlock
-----------
This sets/resets the hardware and software lock on the fw IC.
It is only needed if you want to use a separate software or device to flash
the Freedom PCB, otherwise locking and unlocking is done automatically.

BackUP FW
---------
Makes a copy of the firmware that is present on the Freedom PCB.
It is recommended to make a backup of the SPI flash on the very first
connection (see notes below).

WRITE IXTREME FW / RESTORE ORIGINAL FW
--------------------------------------
Writes the IXTREME or ORIGINAL firmware to the Board.
The software authomatically recognizes the firmware version of the drive and
proceeds to use the correct firmware file.

Hey Guys,

Very happy with the product but bummed it doesnt work with my X360USB. I installed your freedom drivers, flashed the PCB with Jungleflasher, then proceeded to lock it in the Freedom Manager but the program simply would not pickup the PCB. Im not sure if the program looks on certain COM ports or what but it would not detect the board. Only until I removed the X360USB and used the USB board that came with the PCB did it work.

In your tut you say you can use other programs to flash it, then to lock it just open Freedom Manager. That however did not work for me. Jungle flasher would not detect it with the Matrix USB board and Freedom Manager would not detect with the X360USB plugged in.

Does Freedom Manager support the X360USB or can I install some other drivers or modify the program to use a specific port so that it will work the X360USB. Any help would be appreciated guys. Again..AWESOME PRODUCT AND VERY HAPPY

Hello,
I received my Freedom PCB today, I have tried to connect it to both Xecuter's X360USB and Maximus Lizard and both detected the pcb fine with the correct device info , etc.. I still didn't try the Freedom Manager because it came without the flat cable needed to connect the PCB with the external USB flasher, but i'll manage to solder a cable between them, then i'll do more tests about locking/unlocking the PCB with X360USB/Lizard and Freedom Manager.
I will review all this in detail soon, so all answers will be answered in the review ;)
Cheers

Great tutorial, I used it to great success.
It all works perfectly.

One thing I am not clear on however; once the board is installed and the Xbox is put back together, how do I power the drive in order to re-flash a new FW using the external programmer?
I'm assuming I turn the Xbox on but this means I will be flashing the drive while the Xbox is at the dashboard.
Is this correct? The Xbox won't freak out if it's on and I flash the drive?

many people has successfully installed pcb, but have issues with Matrix Freedom Manager.
Our Russian community just did a detailed F.A.Q. How to use Matrix Freedom Manager for slashing via USB. If you notice mistakes, please let me know. F.A.Q. was translated from Russian language.
