when the newer firmware is available I think the Matrix team will update the "Freedom Manager" to detect the newer files of LT+3.0,
and in case they didn't or you just can't wait, there is a way to make use of the newer firmware and make the Matrix Freedom Manager flash it for you.
and here it is:

In the "Matrix Freedom Manager" folder there is another folder called "fw" that contains the 5 current (LT+_v2.0) firmware files:

LTPlus-0225-v2.0.bin, LTPlus-0272-v2.0.bin, LTPlus-0401-v2.0.bin, LTPlus-1071-v2.0.bin, LTPlus-9504.bin

when you have the new files of LT+_v3.0, all you have to do is to rename the version 3 files using the v2.0 labels, like this:

LTPlus-0225-v3.0.bin ----> LTPlus-0225-v2.0.bin
LTPlus-0272-v3.0.bin ----> LTPlus-0272-v2.0.bin
LTPlus-0401-v3.0.bin ----> LTPlus-0401-v2.0.bin
LTPlus-1071-v3.0.bin ----> LTPlus-1071-v2.0.bin
LTPlus-9504-v3.0.bin ----> LTPlus-9504.bin

after this the "Matrix Freedom Manager" will detect LT+_v3.0 files fine (as the 2.0 files) and will flash them to the pcb without any problem.
To verify that this method works, i have renamed the file "LTPlus-0401-v1.92.bin" to "LTPlus-0401-v2.0.bin" and it flashed it fine to my PCB without any problem, so we're good to go with this trick

Thank you for the detailed response. This is on an xbox with stock going to my little brother for christmas so I am trying to make this as easy as possible for him to get 3.0 on it once they release it. I'm a little nervous since I've never used the Matrix Freedom Board before, but if all goes well I will prob only use them in the future. Not having to open the unit, especially the slim, is a wonderful feature.

Can anyone confirm weather this works with the now released version 3 ?? as I have tried it but got some weird results ie disk drawer flying open, stuck on the xbox symbol when the 360 starts ??
