You can install it straight from Cobra CFW either through XMB or Recovery Mode (dependent on model)

Edit: that info/faq on PSX-Scene is sourced to here, but I think it's dependent on how it's broken

do you know, or a site, which explain how to know how my bluray drive is broken?
i bought it like that, the guy said, he was playing a game and then suddenly the ps3 blocked, he reboot it and it cannot read any disc, bluray, dvd or cdr.

not reading any disc pretty much tells me it's not the laser as Blu-ray uses a separate laser then DVD/CD. Possible it's a motor or logic board, does it spin up, have you been able to change FW?

okay thanks, but for rogero or gaia, i can install the basic version, we dont need special version signed for the cobra cfw?
i see pkg for certain cfw, so i wonder.

i dont have any demo but i will try with my gran turismo 5 bluray game original.

maybe i can try with a bluray movie.

and then i will try the nfw, to use, i install the OFW 3.55 before, or i can install it on the CFW cobra?

You can install the Rogero_Manager_v8.5_Solar_Edition.pkg .. its a one pkg for all. I use it with Cobra. I am just wanting to see if you can run anything else from XMB

That was why I suggested another backup manager, PS3 demo or a PSN game. I know you can install CFW and OFW without needing the Blu ray Bypass CFW as you stated in your first post that you installed firmwares without issue.

Thats what bitsbubba is asking, so you confirmed that already you can install CFW or OFW.

I also found a review done earlier on about the Cobra dongle, and it worked without a working blu ray drive

i just tried Cobra-USB_Manager_v4.1.pkg, Rogero_Manager_v8.5_Solar_Edition.pkg and black screen, but maybe it just a video problem on my monitor ( i use a 22" 1650*1080).
But when i touch the gamepad, it react, dont know if it's the software or the monitor, i have to try on a tv with scart, i am not at home and dont have any tv hd .

i can try this BDEMU-355.pkg, i just install it, and then i try to launch the software?

For the nfw cobra v3 and or v5 i didn't find any good link, if someone have one.

After installing BDEMU-355.pkg, yes you just install it, then run Multiman

How are you connected to the monitor? Using hdmi cable? It might be worth a try on a TV as well if you can too rule that out.

When you had the cfw 3.55 geohot, were you able to run any backup managers or any content from XMB?

This is quite baffling as you are able to install any firmware it seems, so you would think Back up managers should work as well.

You could try Option 3, then Option 4 in recovery mode and see if that makes any difference.
